SIS: Spring Info & Spaghetti

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Hi Friends,

All Jr & Sr High students & parents are invited to our 2011 Spring Info & Spaghetti night: SIS! Come join us on Wednesday, February 9th at 6:30pm for some good grub, a chance to learn a bit about each other, as well as what Bethel’s got going on for our Jr & Sr High peeps these coming months.

We’ll meet in Torvend Hall for a pasta feast and then talk about the programs for JR High, SR High youth and even something for the parental types. Some specific events will include Rock ‘n Water for the JH crowd, and Common Ground, Mission to Mexico, and the Western States Youth Gathering for the SR Highers.

Please RSVP to your youth contact if you can make it so we can plan for enough eats! The best way is to email me at th----@------.net.

Peace, Tom

The coming two weeks

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Greetings my friends!

I’m getting ready to take off across country to tech the ELCA Youth Ministry Extravaganza in Kansas City, MO. While I’m gone we won’t miss a step with great activities planned by Jeff, Mac, and Jackie. They’ll have a great supporting crew and you should all have a productive and fun time.

I really want you all to keep David and all the Schrey’s in your prayers as David is scheduled for open heart surgery one week from today (Jan 21st) as they remove the old pacemaker lead, repair one heart valve, replace one with a cow valve (moooooooooo), and install a new pacemaker. Lot’s of skill, courage, and peace will be needed that day and determination and optimism in the days to come. Remember to throw David a note or text of encouragement too.

Here’s the scoop for the next 16 days:
Sunday 16th @ 8:30am:
Meet in the kitchen to make breakfast for the 9th grade confirmation class.
Wednesday 19th @ 5:15pm: Leave for 2nd Harvest Food Bank to lend a hand. Make sure to wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a shirt with sleeves. Here are the two release forms as well: 2nd Harvest Volunteer Agreement (98.6 KiB) 2nd Harvest Youth Permission Slip (45.0 KiB)
Sunday 23rd @ 9:15am: Meet in the Fireside Room for the final installment of “Feminine Images of God” – How it applies to the church today.
Wednesday 26th @ 5:30pm: Leave for Togo’s and two rounds of shoot ‘em up at Laserquest
Sunday 30th @ 10:30am: Confirmation Sunday

Have a great couple of weeks and feel free to send a message or call me if you’d like.
Peace, Tom

Put things in a much more fun perspective, as oppose to Jackie’s bureaucratic approach. Tomorrow, Wednesday the 12th, we will be viewing a rocking performance from the Bethel School program. All the coolest kids will be in attendance, so make sure you don’t miss out.
On Sunday, we will be discussing different Christmas traditions. Those who are in attendance will have the privilege of hearing all of my wacky traditions.
Later that Sunday we will be doing our ever-famous Ice Skating/Caroling/Pizzing Extravaganza
This you will most certainly shouldn’t miss, as you would be missing out on a defining moment for your young lives.
Finally, the San Francisco Walking tour will be taking place on the 22nd. I do not know but about this event but I can tell you that walking will be involved, most likely in San Francisco. We will be departing at 8 am. Boring details are listed for all said events listed above.

Hope to see everybody there

Love
Jeff (only Jeff)

Hi Friends,
Here’s the scoop on the coming days:

Sunday, December 5th @ 10:30am: Sr High Sunday School about Advent: We’ll start with snacks (as always) and then sharing, then the story of the Ten Virgins (don’t want to miss that), and then how we can get ready for Christmas.

Wednesday December 8th @ 6:30PM: Jr/Sr High Christmas Party Extravaganza: Come bring a food item to share and the gift you said you would buy for the kids in need. We’ll have dinner, do some mixers with the JH kids, decorate cookies, wrap some presents, and watch a little Christmas flick. Should be a blast. Please let me know if you can make it.

Peace, Tom

Wed, Nov 17th & Sun, Nov 21st

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Hi Friends,
I’ve got a couple of updates for you:

Wednesday, November 17th
We’ll gather at 5:30pm to whip up a “breakfast for dinner” feast in the Bethel kitchen. Bring $5 to help cover the cost of tasty morsels including potatoes, pancakes and eggs. Then join us at 7:15 for a discussion on a great movement called “TWLOHA”. If you know of any teens that are struggling with hurting themselves and/or suicide, this is a talk you don’t want to miss.

Sunday, November 21st
All 10th – 12th graders will be joining Robyn and our Jr High peeps for Sunday School in the Youth Room. Come at 9:15am for snacks and then 9:30am – 10:15am for a discussion. It is always a treat to learn from Robyn so don’t miss out!

Peace, Tom

Let’s go Catholic :)

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Hi Friends,
Just a reminder that we’re meeting in the Youth Room at 9am today (Nov 7th) to depart for a morning of food and worship. We’ll head to Holder’s Country Inn for breakfast and then to worship at the Catholic Church by Mitty High School. Just bring money for breakfast. We should be back to Bethel around 12:30pm. Should be fun!
Peace, Tom

Next Wed: Dinner at the Wahoos/Verde Green Tea/Potsticker King/ etc. & then a western states meeting

I would like to apologize for Jackie’s un-creativeness in her posts(which she would like to point out are much more concise). For everybody who enjoys or is forced to put up with Jeff’s normal posts, here I am. Please hold your applause until the end. As usual we are posting this the night before the event. Also in our adopted norm, I (Jeff) will be blamed for its tardiness. You may lessen your applause due to this blunder.

On Wednesday we are going to be making pizzas followed by playing games. Please bring 6 dollars to reimburse Mrs. Molly Schrey for pre-purchasing the ingredients. If you have any of your church appropriate/portable games that you feel would give the rest of us joy, feel free to bring it along with your smiling face.

Hope to see y’all tomorrow,
Jackie and Jeff
