February 13th Common Ground Announcements

Hi Friends,

We’ll, Common Ground kicked off last Monday and we are excited about this season 🙂  Each week, I will post a pdf of the announcements that I hand out to CG’ers.  This is an important sheet with the latest up to date info on all things Sr High Youth related.  I am also attaching a pdf of the 2017 CG Schedule for you.  If you got one last week, there is already one date change :-/  The first time CG sings in church is Sunday, March 19th (not the 12th).  The new schedule already has that update.

Please feel free to call or email with comments and questions.  My cell is 408-309-9975 and my email is to----@------.net 🙂

Peace, Tom

WSYG Info and Dinner This Wednesday!! (the 28th)

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a good week so far.

At 5:30 this Wednesday, September 28th, we’ll be taking the Bethel Bus to the El Paseo shopping center in Saratoga for dinner. After dinner, we’ll come back to bethel around 7:15 to talk about the Western States Youth Gathering (bring parents at 7:15 if possible!) WSYG is a super fun event during which Lutheran high schoolers from different churches around the west coast and pacific northwest will come together for about five days at Cal Lutheran and hang out. There will be guest speakers, probably concerts and other live performances, and more stuff we’ll talk about on Wednesday! It’s awesome and if you’re available to attend, I would HIGHLY recommend it 🙂

Next Wednesday, on October 5th at 5:30, we’ll be getting dinner at Pieology and then going to Cream for dessert, around Main Street Cupertino. That night, we’ll be doing a “Share Your Story” thing, where you can bring any form of media (a song, a picture or painting, a video, etc) to share something meaningful about yourself or your life.

On Saturday October 8th, Bethel Out and About is going to the Fleet Week event in San Francisco. You can hang out at the pier, see the Blue Angels fly and have fun in the city for a day! If you’re interested in going, let Tom know so he can save you a spot.

Hope to see you guys soon!!

Change for tomorrow:

Hi Friends,

Well, the bus finally made it home and seems to be running well.  The bummer is that my body hasn’t been running that well.  I had a pretty good adventure with Vertigo last weekend and while I’m doing quite a bit better, I’m still a bit too dizzy to take the bus out.

So, we will postpone our “Create your own Outing” to a future date 🙁

We will still have our Detroit Gathering Mtg tomorrow, June 24th at 7:15pm in the Youth Room.  Make sure to come for final details and to figure out how much you still owe.

Next week, July 1st at noon, we’ll head to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.  Bring $ for food and rides.  We’ll return at 7:30pm.  Make sure to sign up outside the youth room to save your spot 🙂

Peace, Tom

Summer Events!

Hey everyone!!! This is your list of fun events that you can attend for the next few weeks! 🏄  Also, congrats Common Ground on a fantastic Tour!!!

On Sunday, June 21st will be the outdoor worship kick off starting at 10:45 A.M. with a BBQ afterwards, hope to see all of you out there!

On Wednesday, June 24th the high school and college kids will be attending an event where you will create your own outing and dinner from 2-7 and you will meet in the youth room. On Sunday, June 28th is the Gay Pride Parade in SanFrancisco. Here is a note from pastor Gabi about the parade: If you believe that God’s love extends to everyone, proclaim your faith and experience walking in the 2015 SF Pride Parade together with other people of faith. This is an opportunity to show God’s love to those who sadly associate Christians with hatred and prejudice. How? Hop on the Bethel Bus on Sunday, June 28 at 7:30am. We then will take BART between the Daly City and Embarcadero BART stations (bring around $25 for train fare and food with you). The day will include Scripture lesson, reflection, communion, coffee, and pastries on the bus. Around 10am, we will join other Lutheran congregations as part of the “Reconciling Works” (formerly “Lutherans Concerned) contingent at Beale Street. The bus will pick us up around 1pm and take us back to Bethel. For more information, contact Pr. Gabi. Also at 6:00 P.M. there will be a labor day retreat meeting! Contact Tom if you want to help!

On Wednesday, July 1st the junior high, high school, and college kids will be at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk from 12-7:30. Bring money for food and attractions. Sign up outside of the youth room to save your spot!

As a reminder: from now until July 5th will be a diaper drive, where we will be collecting diapers to go and take to detroit. Please donate if you are able to!

On Sunday, July 5th at the 10:45 service will be the commissioning for the detroit youth gathering.
